Richard “Rich” A. Moberg, 75, longtime area resident, died Friday, January 17, 2020 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN. He was born in Duluth, MN, May 15, 1944, the son of Everett and Caroline (Mai) Moberg.
He graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth.
Rich served his country honorably in the United States Air National Guard and served in Vietnam from 1968-1969.
He was a carpenter and worked for various contractors on the West Coast for many years before his retirement in 2005. In his free time, Rich excelled at sawmilling and owned his own portable sawmill, and he enjoyed doing fine woodworking. He also enjoyed sailing and sail boats, and participated in the Trans Lake Superior Race. He also sailed up and down the California coast. He loved to travel and was an excellent downhill skier.
He is survived by his significant other, Louise Luthens, Brule, WI; brother, Ronald (Kay) Moberg, Harlingen, TX; two nieces; and special friends, John Simenson, Mary George, Paul and Anita Helbach, Lorraine Korhonen, Janice Stevens, and Marlene Mackey.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Rich’s life and a time of shared memories will be held from 2:30-3:00 PM, Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Twin Gables Café & Lounge, 13992 E. US Hwy 2, Brule, WI, followed by a dinner at 3:15 PM. Leslie Anderson, Associate Pastor from the Brule Presbyterian Church, will be giving the blessing and offering words of comfort.
Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Brule at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Rich’s loved ones prefer that memorials be made in his name to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle Chicago, IL 60674.
