Richard E. "Dick" Moran

Richard E. “Dick” Moran, 82, Superior, died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Golden Living Center of Superior.

He was born on February 17, 1929, the son of Richard J. and Doris (Fisher) Moran in Iron River, WI, where he was raised.

He graduated from the Iron River High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Dick married Mary Ann Spanjers on August 25, 1956 in Iron River and celebrated thirty-five years of marriage before she passed away in 1991.

Dick was employed in the maintenance department at the former Diamond Tool and Horseshoe Company in Duluth for many years.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf, basketball and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Dick is survived by one son, Daniel Moran, Superior; two daughters, Marcia (Robert) Anderson, Superior, Jane (David) Ellis, Lino Lakes, MN; one brother, Mike (Barb) Moran, Foxboro, WI, one sister, Patricia (Kevin) Kegel, Ashland, WI; five grandchildren, Peter Anderson, Rebecca Anderson, Joseph Anderson, Thomas Ellis and Sarah Ellis and many nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann; his parents; a brother Gerald Moran and a sister, Sharon Moran.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5th Street, Superior, with a Scripture Service at 6:30 PM with Rev. Father John Spanjers.

Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 2, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM, Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant and Rev. Fr. John Spanjers as con-celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.
