Richard G. Rochon

Richard G. “Dick” Rochon, 85, longtime Superior resident, died peacefully surrounded by loving family, on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Superior Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 18, 1937, in Bayfield, WI, the son of Anthony and June (Kent) Rochon.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army as a gunner in Germany.

Dick was united in marriage to Janice Rutkowski on September 3, 1959, and they celebrated 51 years of marriage before her passing in 2011. He worked as a machine operator at Georgia Pacific for many years.

Dick was a member of the Eagle’s Club in Superior FOE #80 and was a former member of the Moose Club 606 in Superior. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially enjoyed spending time on the family property in Solon Springs. Above all, Dick was a loving father, grandfather, and brother who will be dearly missed by his daughter, Jean (Jeff) Vandenberghe, Superior, WI; sons, Richard (Bev) Rochon, and Robert (Joann) “Jodi” Rochon, all of Superior, WI; grandchildren, Travis Vandenberghe, Tyler (Sasha) Vandenberghe, Christopher Rochon, Sarah Lindberg-Rochon , Richard Rochon Jr., James French, Wayne (Amber) French, Chad Rochon; great-grandchildren, Corbin, Porter, Tate, Brendon, Darrel, and Kameron; sisters, Donna Schuman, Carol Rochon, Virginia Meyers; brothers, Joseph and John Rochon, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Janice; an infant grandson, John Michael Rochon; brothers, Don, Kenneth, and Gene Rochon; sister, Joan Berka, and his parents.

Per Dick’s wishes, no public services will be held. His immediate family will celebrate his life at a later date.
