Richard E. Senn

January 17, 1951 — April 12, 2022

Richard Edward Senn, 71, lifelong Superior resident passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Rick was loved by many for his quick wit, buoyant spirit, curmudgeonly attitude, and ability to encourage conversation in any setting. He was employed as a track laborer for the Burlington Northern Railroad, a music buyer for the Electric Fetus Record Store, and a chef for the Benedictine sisters of St. Scholastica. An avid lover of music, Rick’s almost encyclopedic knowledge of popular music history colored almost every part of his life from performing with local bands as the drummer for Gusto Flash and Trinity Freak and more recently writing and recording original compositions with his wife Kathryn and friend Dan Raprager.

He was an avid Packer fan and equal to his love for music, Rick loved animals. All of them. The deer in the front yard, the pigeons on the lawn, the squirrels on the porch, and especially the pets he adopted. His spaniels were the highlight of his life (and spoiled … so spoiled), and he was most recently adopted by Karma, the cat who has been his constant companion for the past 15 years and misses him very much.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Arlene Senn, brothers Donnie and Gary Senn, and a sister baby girl (Vickie) Senn. He is survived by his wife Kathryn Senn (Kending), brothers Roger (Cecelia) Senn, Tim (Nancy) Senn, Terry (Jessica) Senn, sisters Donna (Tom) Kilgore, Cheryl Senn, and Joan Senn as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.
