Robert L. Haskins

Robert “Bob” Haskins, 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was a kind and caring man with a love for God, family, music, and nature. He was a loving husband, dad, grampa, great-grampa, and brother.

Bob was born on June 22, 1937, the third of four children in Bennett Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Clyde and Anna Haskins.

Bob attended St. Croix High School graduating in 1956. He met his wife, Shirley Hemmila, in 1957. They were married on April 10th, 1959, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Billings Park. They have shared 64 and a half years together and have three children: Joan, Julie, and Jeff.

He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962 stationed in Germany for 18 months. He retired from Gateway Foods. Previously employed at Twin Ports Grocery, Fleming Foods. Eddie’s Bakery, and US Steel.

He was a member of Hope Church in Billings Park. He was a deacon in the church, AWANA leader, and can be fondly remembered playing the piano on Sunday before services.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Hemmila) Haskins; sisters, Lois Rallo and Helen Bakke; brother Ernie Haskins; stepbrother Joe Branstrom. His children, Joan (Greg) Hanson, Julie Nindorf, and Jeffrey (Teri Magray) Haskins; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His loyal, loving fur-babies Ginger and Simba. He will be loved and deeply missed by friends and family.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Hope Church, 1827 Wyoming Ave in Superior, and will continue until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Darrell Kyle to officiate.
