Robert E. "Bob" "Knobby" Paquette, 84, lifelong Superior resident, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. He was born on March l9, 1925 in Superior to Ernest and Julia (Soulia) Paquette.
He graduated from the former East High School.
Bob married Drucilla "Deke" Hart on May 29, 1947 in Superior and recently celebrated sixty-two years of marriage.
He was employed as a printer for the Superior Evening Telegram for over forty-three years.
Bob served in the United States Army during World War II serving in the South Pacific and was also in the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Bronze Star and four Battle Stars.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa; and a lifetime member of the Thomas F. Stein VFW Post #109l and the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
Bob enjoyed golfing and working in the yard. He was also an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
In addition to his wife Deke, Bob is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Dale) Schultz, Chippewa Falls, WI, Wendy (Don) Severin, Altoona, WI; three sons, Michael (Diane Nelson) Paquette, Portage, WI, Thomas (Leslie) Paquette, Winter Haven, FL and Terry Paquette, Superior; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son Todd, his parents and five brothers, Woody, Gene, George, Leonard and James.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 15, 2009 until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson of Holy Assumption Catholic Church, will be celebrant.
Private family inurnment will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
Military Honors will be accorded at the church by the Thomas F. Stein VFW Post #1091 and the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Combine Colorguard.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
