Robert "Rob" Gene Leach

Robert “Rob” Gene Leach, 76, longtime resident of Superior, WI died Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Superior, November 28, 1941, the son of Oscar S. and Mary (Miller) Leach.

He graduated from Central High School in Superior, and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army as an air traffic controller during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.

Rob returned from the military in 1963 and worked as a security guard in the twin cities.

He married the love of his life, Dorothy Sanders on August 31, 1963 in Minneapolis where he was a truck driver for Mobil Oil for a number of years.

Rob and Dorothy returned to Superior in 1976 and he went on to work as a carpenter from 1980 - 1988, when her returned to truck driving as an over the road driver for Halvor Lines for many years. He went on to work for Lake Superior College as a Diesel Truck Driving Instructor for five years before his retirement.

Rob previously attended the Dewey Borea Gospel Tabernacle in Superior and loved studying and reading his bible. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He loved traveling to Wyoming with his wife to visit Wyoming Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone National Park.

He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-four years, Dorothy, Superior; sons, Scott (Laurie) Leach, Iron River, WI, Wade Leach, Superior, Warren and Ross Leach, both of Jackson, WY, Steven (Diane) Leach, Cleveland, OH; grandson, Grant Leach, Wausau, WI; step-granddaughter, Ashley Ragone, Cleveland, OH; sister, Violet (Terry) Korzendorfer, Excelsior, MN; and brother, Richard Leach, Superior.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Time of Remembrance and Celebration of Rob’s life will be held from 2:30 – 4:30 PM, Saturday, March 3, 2018 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior.

Burial will take place at a later date in Solon Springs, WI.
