Robert F. Urbaniak, 88, lifelong East End Superior resident, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospice Unit in Duluth, MN.
He was born in Superior on December 19, 1926 to Frank and Victoria (Horyza) Urbaniak.
Bob served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
He married LeMae Martin on April 10, 1950 and celebrated 62 years of marriage before she passed away on December 28, 2012.
Bob was employed as a clerk for the Great Northern Railroad and the Burlington Northern Railroad retiring in 1988.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and gardening both vegetables and flowers, especially roses.
Bob is survived by three sons, Daniel (Denise Charles) Urbaniak, Superior, Joel Urbaniak, Colorado Springs, CO; Paul Urbaniak , Superior; three daughters, Patrice (John) Davy, Superior; Terri (Bill) Burns, Plymouth, MN, Joni (Bill) Trettin, Superior; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife LeMae, Bob is preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Steven Urbaniak; his parents and two brothers, Bernard and Raymond.
Visitation will begin at 12 Noon and will continue until the 1:00 PM Memorial Mass on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.
Military Honors will be accorded at the church following the mass by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Bob’s grandchildren.
