Robert "Bobby" J. Wentela

Robert (Bobby) J. Wentela, 83 passed away at his home in Brule on Sunday May 19, 2013.


He was born October 23rd, 1929 in Brule to Charles and Mary (Koski) Wentela.


Bobby attended the NP Johnson and Waino Schools and proudly served 2 years as a paratrooper during peacetime.

He enjoyed woodworking and carving. Several of the items he made are in homes of friends and relatives to enjoy for years to come. Bobby also enjoyed reading, singing old songs, fishing but most of all he LOVED his “Green Bay Packers”. He never missed watching a game with his friends dressed from head to toe in his Green and Gold.

Bobby is survived by his sister, Viola Palo of Iron River, great nephew Gene Allen Williams of Gilbert, Arizona, numerous cousins and his very special friends, Larry and Renee Peabody.


He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary, brother Charles (Chuck) and nephew Lanny Palo.

Bobby will live in the hearts of the friends he’s made during his lifetime. He touched so many lives with his unique outlook on life, loving and caring but quiet and shy demeanor. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Brule Town Hall with a graveside service at the Everrest Cemetery in Waino at 12:30 PM with Pastor Scott Stai of Hope Lutheran Church.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Iron River VFW Post #10197.

Luncheon following the service at the Brule Town Hall. Following the luncheon a Celebration of Life will be held at the Kro Bar in Brule.


Pallbearers – Larry Peabody, Mark Baillie, Jeff Anderson, Joe Nevin, Dennis Makela and Mark Bruer.

Honorary Pallbearers – Gary Tyykila, Richard Tuura, Ray Koski, Fran Koski, Jack Madsen and Gene Wentela.
