Roberta "Birdie" Papineau

Roberta “Birdie” Papineau, 99, resident of Superior, died Saturday, August 26, 2017 in Superior, WI. She was born April 7, 1918 in Frogner, MN, the daughter of Alfred and Marie (Claude) Hilpipre.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Superior and their choir, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Superior and their Altar Society and the Christian Women’s Association. Birdie loved to sew and quilt.

She is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Joe) Ashbeck, Neenah, WI and Terry (Tom) Soderlund, Waupaca, WI; son Duane (Mary) Papineau, South Range, WI; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Medric in 1995; daughter, Bonnie Apple; four sisters; two brothers; parents; grandson, Nathan; and great-grandson, Kyle.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 6:00 PM Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East Fifth Street, Superior and will resume at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 31, 2017 in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 East Fourth Street, Superior until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Villa Marina for the wonderful care they provided Birdie during her time there.
