Roger J. Luthens, 68, Brule, WI, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, MN. He was born on June 11, 1943 in Hutchinson, MN to Edward and Esther (Ulrich) Luthens.
He married Louise J. Pearson on June 26, 1965 in Minneapolis, MN and recently celebrated forty-six years of marriage.
Roger was employed as a math and physics teacher at the high school in Barron, WI and the WITC in Rice Lake, WI.
He was a member and council member of the First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake and a former member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Barron.
He was also a member of the Brule River Lions Club and he served as the Brule Town Treasurer.
In addition to his wife Louise, Roger is survived by two sons, John (Denice) Luthens, Grafton, WI, Daniel (Anna) Luthens, Erie, CO; five grandchildren, Tyler, Amalia, Dominik, Amanda and Daniel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, David and Donald Luthens.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until the 10:30 AM Memorial Service on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu, WI.
Pastor Scott Stai will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Brule, WI.
Roger’s grandchildren will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
A fellowship gathering of family and friends will be at the Brule Town Hall at 12:30 PM.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
