Roger E. Saari, 78, longtime area resident, died peacefully, Saturday, October 24, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN with family by his side. He was born in Duluth, NN, January 5, 1942, the son of Edwin and Mildred (Torgerson) Saari.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army National Guard, retiring as Major.
Roger was united in marriage to Janice Bjorklund August 13, 1966 and they celebrated fifty-two years of marriage before her passing in 2018.
He graduated from UMD with his bachelors of science degree in Biology. He lived in White Bear Lake, MN, most of his life, and worked as a chemist for HB Fuller Company for many years before his retirement. Roger was former member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ducks Unlimited and the Audubon Society.
He is survived by his son, Andy (Shelly Bong) Saari, Superior, WI; daughter, Teri Aliotta, New York, NY; and grandchildren, Annikka and Hannah Saari, Bridget and Molly O’Hare, Philip Aliotta, and Vinnie Theisen.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice; and his parents.
A Time of Remembrance and Celebration of Roger’s Life will be held from 4-6:00 PM, Monday, November 2, 2020 at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 th Superior, WI.
Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Duluth, MN.
