Roger H. Searle, 90, longtime Superior resident, died Monday, November 14, 2016 at the Superior Rehab and Nursing Center in Superior, WI. He was born on September 20, 1926 in Superior, WI to Claude and Eba (Anderson) Searle.
Roger served his country in the United States Army in World War II during the Korean Conflict. He was the Captain of the Superior Fire Department for over thirty years retiring in 1981. He also worked for Lignell Drug Store for many years.
He married Frances Miskonis on April 16, 1955 and they celebrated sixty years of marriage before her passing in September of 2015.
Roger was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was a member of the Thomas F. Stein VFW Post #1091, Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435, Legion’s Honor Guard and the Military Order of the Cootie Pup Tent #2. He also was a longtime volunteer at the Bong Heritage Center.
He is preceded in death by his wife Frances, an infant daughter Lu-Ann, his parents, brothers Douglas and Lon Searle and sisters Shirley Starky, Mona and Claudine Baines, Roween Searle, Carmen Marshall and Elaine Wagner.
Roger is survived by his son, Roger J. (Cheryl) Searle, Superior, WI; four grandchildren, Roger, Roseanna and Joseph Searle and Jennifer (Tim) Monschman; six great-grandchildren, Claudia, Sylvia, Leland, Maci, Charlene and Olive; special nephew, Dave Starky and several other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 19, 2016 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Rev. Fr. Adam Laski officiating.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Superior. Pallbearers for the service are Roger J., Roger M. and Joseph Searle, David Starkey, Doug Comer and Cheryl Searle.
