Ronald John Danielson

December 26, 1931 — February 5, 2015

Ronald John Danielson, 83, Superior, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. He was born in the family log cabin in Oulu, WI on December 26, 1931 to Nels and Lillian (Kortesma) Danielson.

He graduated from the former Central High School and went on to receive his teaching degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and also received a Master degree in education.

He served his country in the United States Air Force as a pilot for over five years and also served with the Air Force Reserves for 15 years attaining the rank of Major.

Ron married Marilyn Blomquist on April 18, 1955 in Pine City, MN and celebrated 59 years of marriage.

He was an educator in the Superior School District for 30 years retiring in 1989, at the age of 58, from the former Central Junior High. Prior to this he was employed with the railroad, taught driver’s education, was a construction worker and worked on Superior Senior High School and he had worked for the Highway Department where he worked on the Blatnik Bridge. Ron also assisted in the construction of the Union Grain Elevator.

Ron was a member of the Douglas County Fish and Game League. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting in the Brule River area and fishing on Lake Superior. He was a dedicated Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed many Milwaukee Brewers games. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Marilyn, Ronald is survived by one daughter, Kim (John) Stevens, South Range, WI; one son, Lee (Jennifer) Danielson, Superior; four grandchildren, Nikole Stevens, South Range, WI, Parker, Chase and Paislee Danielson, Superior; one brother, Gerald Danielson and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn and his parents.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and will continue until the 11:00 AM, Memorial Service will Pastor Will Mowchan, officiating.

Ronald’s grandchildren will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.

Military Honors will be accorded at the church following the memorial service.

Burial will be in Everrest Cemetery at a later date.
