Ronald F. Dumonson, 79, Hayward WI, passed away at home Saturday, May 10th, 2025.
Born April 15th, 1946, Ronald Francis Dumonson was the son of Victor and Mildred (Salmi) Dumonson. As a young boy he was the greeter of Itasca Street, often walking to neighbors to visit and giving his Mom a scare. His love of cars, motorcycles, and all things fast and loud started at a young age. He shared many fond memories of school friends, racing, and perhaps getting in just a little bit of trouble.
Ron graduated from Superior East High School and served in the United States Army stationed in Germany. He became a switchman for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, retiring after 20 years. Ron was the definition of “jack of all trades,” mastering construction, pouring concrete, electrical, engine maintenance of all types and sizes, and driving commercial trucks. Ron had an incredible work ethic, something he taught his children.
Ron married the love of his life, Gloria Golenbeck, on December 21st, 1971, and together they raised a son and a daughter, both of whom he was incredibly proud. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, cabin time, wintering in Lake Havasu, AZ, and most of all, riding motorcycles. He loved the shine of a freshly waxed car, the rumble of a Harley, the art of negotiating a deal, and subscribed to the motto “he who heats with wood is twice warmed.”
Ron’s mission for the last 8 years has been spending as much time as he could with Gloria at Hayward Health Services following her stroke. He made sure that she was well cared for and snuck her out for a convertible ride as often as he could through her passing in October. Ron’s family takes great comfort in knowing that they are together again.
Ron is lovingly survived by his son Jamie (Angela) Dumonson (Poplar, WI); his daughter Lisa (Douglas) Schultz (Marshfield, WI); and three grandchildren Wyatt Dumonson (Poplar, WI), Avery Dumonson (Poplar, WI), and Elizabeth Schultz (Orlando, FL).
Please join Ron’s family for a Celebration of his Life on Sunday, May 25th from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, at Patti’s Dockside, 11580 E Waterfront Dr, Lake Nebagamon, WI 54849.
