Ronald Olson

Ronald H. "Oly" Olson, 71, Oulu, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Hospice Unit, Duluth, MN. He was born on October 9, 1937 in Maple, WI to Richard and Laina (Saari) Olson.
He married Martha E. Johnson on December 27, 1958 and they celebrated forty-four years of marriage before she passed away in 2002.
Ron was employed as a truck driver for Spindler Service in Duluth and Ryder Commercial Car Hauling for many years before he retire in 1995.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu and the Teamsters Union.
Ron enjoyed races at Superior Speedway and ABC Raceway in Ashland. He enjoyed hunting and having company because the coffee pot was always on, but his biggest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren.
He had remodeled Martha's family home where he had lived for the past four years.
Ron is survived by two sons, Brian (Karen) Olson, Oulu, WI, David Olson, Superior; one daughter LuAnne (Tyler) Buck, Hastings, MN; seven grandchildren, Kenneth and Benjamin Funke, Anthony and Nathan Buck, Benjamin and Angela Olson and Nicolas Drake; one great-grandson, Cole; one sister, Shirley (Pete) Mackey, Barnes, WI; one brother, Robert (Bonnie Trapp) Olson, Maple, WI and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Martha, Ron is preceded in death by a sister, Doris Anderson; a brother, Richard Olson, a daughter-in-law, Connie Olson and his parents.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, June 22, 2009 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service at the Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu, WI. Pastor Scott Stai will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Oulu.
Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Ron's grandchildren.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
