Ronald O. Peterson, 80, longtime area resident, died Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Viewcrest Health Center in Duluth, MN. He was born in Faith, MN, August 22, 1939 the son of Olaf and Ruth (Rasmussen) Peterson.

He was united in marriage to Carol Lee, on December 27, 1958 and they celebrated sixty-one years of marriage before his passing.

Ron served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam era’s.

He worked as a Superintendent at Fraser Shipyard for over thirty-five years before retiring in 2003. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Superior.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Peterson, Superior, WI; sons, Michael (Sonia) Peterson, Superior, WI, and Jeffrey (Mary) Peterson, Hermantown, MN; daughter, Connie (Randy) VanDriessche, Poplar, WI; daughter-in-law, Karen Spielman, Rush City, MN; grandchildren, Nicole, Dan, Randine, Rick, Brad, Lisa, Stephen, Andrew and Brian; thirteen-and a half-great-grandchildren; and sister, Myrna (Cheryl) Peterson, Brooklyn, WI

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private family services will be held.

Burial will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Viewcrest Health Center and Essentia Hospice for the loving care and support they provided.
