Ronald E. Reijo, 83, Superior, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. He was born in Gwen, Michigan on November 13, 1926 to Matthew and Ethel Reijo and he grew up in Oulu, WI. He had been a Superior resident for sixty years.
He started his career in construction as an estimator for Kileen and Wille of Superior and then became a partner in Kileen, Reijo and Schanen Construction. He then went on to work for United General Constructors of Duluth as an estimator and retired from Lakehead Constructors in 1988.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Ron was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and its building committee. He was also a member of Disabled American Veterans, a former member of the Eagles and Elks Clubs and he had been a member of golf leagues in his earlier years.
He enjoyed his family cabin, hunting, fishing, golfing and he was proud of his Finnish heritage.
Ron is survived by his wife Rose; his children, James (Suzanne) Reijo, Duluth, Jacalyn (Gary) Kucharyski, Superior, Jody (Greg) Austreng, Superior, Jeanne (Ralph) Rounsville, Poplar, Kathleen (Wilbert) Radtke, Coon Rapids, MN; his grandchildren, James, Patrick, Lindsay, Kalli, Dustin, Tyler, Amanda, Amy, Brandon, William, Ann and Ashley and one great-grandson, Donovan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ann and his brothers, Raymond and Roy Reijo.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, November 27, 2009 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 28, 2009 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Superior with Pastor Sarah Larsen officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Port Wing, WI.
