Ronald "Ron" P. Gronski

Ronald “Ron” P. Gronski, 78, longtime Superior resident, died on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospice in Duluth, MN. He was born on April 8, 1939 in Superior, WI to Peter and Regina (Kulas) Gronski.

Ron was a 1957 graduate of the former Central High School in Superior. He served his country in the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam.  He retired as Chief Master Sergeant after twenty-two years of service. Ron was employed as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service for nineteen years retiring in 2001.

He married Elizabeth “Betty” Fleissner on April 10, 1965 and celebrated fifty-two years of marriage.

Ron was a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus 499 where he was currently serving as Grand Knight and Assembly 1208, National Association of Letter Carriers and the Air Force Sergeant’s Association.

Ron is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Daniel Gronski, Superior, WI and Jeffrey Gronski, Colorado Springs, CO; one daughter, Patricia Coughlin, Lake Nebagamon, WI; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Martineau and Cynthia Gronski; two brothers, John (Rose) Gronski and Timothy Gronski and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Gronski.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and continue until the 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial with the Most Rev. Bishop James P. Powers and Rev. Fr. James Tobolski will concelebrate the Mass.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus Council 499 and Assembly 1208. Ron’s grandchildren will be recognized as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior, WI.
