Ronald Tahtinen

August 19, 1968 — June 13, 2010

Ronald Tahtinen, Jr., 41, lifelong Brule resident, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 from injuries sustained in a four wheeling accident in rural Douglas County.
He was born on August 19, 1968 in Superior to Ronald T. Sr. and Starr (Marin) Tahtinen.

He graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1986 and went on to receive his degree as a Mechanical Computer Drafting Technician from WITC in 1999. Ron was a self-employed contractor with Northland Enterprise.

Ron married Lisa Anderson on July 28, 1990 in Brule and would have celebrated twenty years of marriage this July.

He was the former President of the Northwestern Wrestling Booster Club and was a volunteer youth wrestling coach for Northwestern Youth Wrestling Program for over twelve years from where he received a Developmental Coach Award in 2008 from the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed golfing and four wheeling. He loved to work in his yard, watching his son wrestle and spending time with family and friends at the cabin in Barnes, Wisconsin on Pickerel Lake.

Ron really enjoyed being outdoors, hunting deer and wild turkeys. He was a member of the Wild Turkey Federation.

In addition to his wife Lisa, Ron is survived by one daughter, Christine “Sissy” (William) Ranta, Eau Claire, WI; one son, Robert “The Boy” Tahtinen, Brule, WI; his mother, Starr Tahtinen, Solon Springs, WI; one granddaughter, Abbigail Rose Ranta; two sisters, Deanna (Gale) Field, Fall Creek, WI, Rhonda Stanford, Superior and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Ronald Sr., in 2006.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service on Saturday, June 19, 2010 in the Mission Covenant Church in Poplar, WI. Pastor Darrell Nelson will officiate.
Ronald’s son Robert, two of his closest friends, Mark Rossetti and Greg Kastern and his father-in-law, Punky Anderson will be honorary pallbearers.
