Rose Kathryn Burger

October 25, 1917 — April 14, 2017

Rose Kathryn Burger, 99, lifelong  resident of Gary, Duluth,  MN, passed away on Good Friday, April 14, 2017 at St Mary’s Essentia Health in Superior, WI. She was born in Duluth, MN on October 25, 1917, the daughter of Anton and Angela (Lusin) Blatnik.

Rose was a graduate of Morgan Park High School. She and Albert "Honey" M. Burger were united in marriage in 1940 and had celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2002. Rose was a lifelong member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Gary New Duluth and an 80 year member of SNPJ, Slovene National Benefit Society. Rose loved to cook and will be remembered as a master story teller.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert  “Honey”  Burger; one daughter, Joan Linda Burger; one son, Albert “Buck” Burger, Jr; two sisters, Angelina Blatnik and Julia Franik; one brother, Anton Blatnik, Jr.

Rose  is survived by two sons, Ed (Janet) Burger, Gay, MI; Tony “Rick” (Donna) Burger, Solon Springs, WI;  daughter-in-law Joan (Buck) Burger; seven grandchildren, DeAnn (Scott) Letourneau, Anthony  (Kathy) Burger Jr., Andrea (Jack) Gresser, Christopher (Staci) Burger, Timothy Burger, Craig (Kristen O’Hara) Burger, and Joseph Burger; fifteen great-grandchildren, Grace, Rose, Faith, Caleb, Hannah, Carter, Mitchell, Samantha, Jonathon, Ellie, Donavan, Nathan, Ava, Mya, Cydney and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 622 – 99 th Avenue West,  Duluth, MN and will continue until the 12:00 Noon Mass of Christian Burial.  Rev. Fr. Frank Perkovich, a lifelong family friend, and Rev. Fr. Jim Bissonet will concelebrate the Mass.   Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Duluth, MN. Pallbearers for the service will be Tony Burger, Donavan Burger, Nathan Burger, Christopher Burger, Craig Burger and Joseph Burger.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the remaining grand children and great-grandchildren.
