Ruby LeDoux Hemmerling, 91, longtime Superior resident, died in the arms of her daughter Patty on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.
She was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada on September 14, 1919 to Otto Arnold and Julia Lorina (Nelson) Matheson.
Ruby was the co-owner/operator with her husband John of Hemmerling Pure Oil on 18th and Tower in Superior for many years.
She was an excellent cook and seamstress and she loved her family.
Ruby is survived by three daughters, Patricia LeDoux Ahrens, Barbara Day, and Candice Lemire; two sons, Ted LeDoux, and Jim LeDoux; sister, Emma LaRose; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Howard and Ralph, first husband, Theodore LeDoux and second husband, John Hemmerling.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior with a rosary to held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 14, 2010 in Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Duluth, MN in the spring.
