Ruth C. Allen

Ruth C. Allen, 90, longtime Superior area resident, died Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born in La Crosse, WI, April 19, 1929, the daughter of Raymond and Majell (Houghtling) Woodliff.

Ruth was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She is at peace now with her loved ones who passed before her. Her daughter Debbie and her husband Dana, feel very lucky to have had extra years caring for Mom in their home after her stroke.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Dana) Young, Oliver, WI and Beth (Scott) Chisholm, Superior, WI; sons, George (Sherry) Woodliff, of Wisconsin, Bruce (Lyndee) Woodliff, of Indiana, Bryan (Lora) Woodliff, of Arkansas, and Ted Woodliff, of Florida; twenty-three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and her loving dog, Ellie.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Violet, Elizabeth, Maida and Faye; brother, Ted; and her parents.

Per Ruth’s wishes, no public services will be held. A private family gathering was held in her honor.

The family would send a special thank you to the St. Luke’s Hospice staff, for their wonderful care of mom. “We couldn’t have asked for more caring efficient staff.”
