Ruth Ann E. Polzin, 87, longtime Solon Springs and Superior area resident, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Villa Marina Health & Rehabilitation Center in Superior.

She was born on January 29, 1927 in Beaver Dam, WI to Philip and Laura (Lidtke) Keil.

As a child, Ruth Ann enjoyed spending time with her family on the farm, and going to dances with her cousins. Ruth Ann graduated from Beaver Dam High School and was the first Homecoming Queen ever for the Beaver Dam High School.

She married Edward “Ward” Polzin in Beaver Dam. Early on in their marriage they moved to a little log cabin in Solon Springs and enjoyed fifty-seven years of marriage until his passing in April of 2007. Ruth Ann worked for National Bank of Commerce, finishing her career as Branch Manager in Solon Springs. She also served on the Board of Directors at NBC.

She was proud to be a mom and grandmother and took pride in all of her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments. She shared her love of music with them. During her younger years, she enjoyed fishing and partridge hunting with her husband and son. She looked forward to watching the Packers and Minnesota Twins. Ruth Ann will always be remembered for her classy sense of style.

She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Solon Springs, WI, and she served as council president. Her faith was very important to her and very strong until the end. Ruth Ann was an active community member in Solon Springs. Throughout the years, she was a Sunday school teacher, PTA member, and a member of the Lucius Woods Performing Arts Center in Solon Springs.

Ruth Ann is survived one daughter, Mary Beth (Robert) Ahlborg, Superior, WI; one son, Greg (Jennie) Polzin, Solon Springs, WI; five grandchildren, Drew (Carissa) Ahlborg, Superior, WI, Taylor Ahlborg, Pebble Beach, CA, Garrett (Paige) Ahlborg, Shoreview, MN, Lindsey (John Hernandez) Polzin and Kyle (Anna Karraker) Polzin, Lake Nebagamon, WI; two great-grandchildren, Dawson and Hadley Ahlborg; one sister, Caroline Strohschein, Beaver Dam, WI; one sister-in-law, Carol Keil, Hartland, WI and two special nephews, Mark and Alan Strohschein along with many other nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ward, her parents, two brothers Frederick and Phillip Keil and one sister Barbara Gutgesell.
Visitation will begin after 10:30 AM, Monday, December 29, 2014 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 11405 S. 1st Street West, Solon Springs, WI and continue until the 11:30 AM funeral service with Pastor Nathan Winterhof officiating.

Inurnment will take place at a later date with her husband Ward at the Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI.

Ruth Ann’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be recognized as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center for the personal care Ruth Ann received during her stay.

Ruth Ann leaves her family and everyone she connected with an example of how to live life.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Ruth Ann’s name to the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Solon Springs, WI.
