Ruth M. Baillie, 89, of Brule, WI, died Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Superior Rehabilitation Center in Superior. She was born on August 2, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI to Paul and Marie (Hansen) Gehling.
Ruth worked together with her husband, at Baillie Oil Company and was the bookkeeper for many years. She worked at Security State Bank in Iron River, WI. She went on to teach at WITC in Ashland, Superior and Rice Lake and created a program for “Displaced Homemakers”. She also was a counselor at H.D.C. – Human Development Center in Superior.
Ruth married Donald “Don” Baillie on May 14, 1960 in West Allis, WI and they celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage.
Ruth was a member of Brule Presbyterian Church where she was the church organist. She taught quilting classes, and wintered with her husband Don in Texas for twenty-two years. She also was one of the original members that started the A.A. Group in Brule, WI.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Don; two sons, Ron Steuck, West Bend, WI and Bruce (Cathy) Baillie, Brule, WI; three daughters, Roxanne Steuck and Rita Ray, both of Eagan, MN and Pam (Mark) Johnson, Brule, WI; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Ludwig, Warsaw, IN and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Jean Brott and son-in-law Doug Ray.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Monday, January 29, 2018 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Brule Presbyterian Church and continue until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Pastor Richard Blood officiating. Burial will be Pine Ridge Cemetery in Brule, WI at a later date.
