Ruth Elizabeth Stewart, 89, Poplar, WI, passed away, with her family by her side, Monday, December 12, 2022, in Superior. She was born August 29, 1933, to Peter and Ada (Robinson) Vitale in Madison, Wisconsin.
Ruth married Jack Raymond Stewart on June 24, 1954, in Dubuque, Iowa. They spent 65 years together before Jacks passing in 2019. Together they raised six children.
Ruth was a long-time member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Superior. She loved to garden and also enjoyed cooking. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Rick (Carmel) Stewart, Ireland; daughters Rhonda (Herb) James, Lake Nebagamon, Rene (Steven) Abrahamzon, South Range, Kim (Julie) Stewart, Prattville, AL; daughter-in-law Terri Stewart; grandchildren, Taylor, Elisha, Ryanne, Adalena, Kenyon, Matthew, Stephanie, Michael, Kyle, Kris, Maiya, Jesse, and Jack III; and several great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband Jack and her sons Derek and Jack.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you and appreciation to the staff on the Med Surg floor at Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Superior for their kind and compassionate care.
A Visitation will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci officiating and will continue until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.
