Sandi Lee Vabalaitis (Kaiser)

May 16, 1963 — January 29, 2017

Sandi Lee Vabalaitis (Kaiser), 53, resident of Superior, died Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN. Sandi came into this world on May 16, 1963 the eighth child of Ronald and Arlene Kaiser, with the amazing chances the family grew to 13.

Sandi chose to marry the man who she thought was going to, as she put it, never leave through thick or thin. She married Bruno Vabalaitis on September 8, 1984 (Sandi had to have her favorite numbers in her wedding day (4 and through the love between them they became parents to Bruno Ronald May 23, 1985 and Arlene Ruth Vabalaitis May 20, 1987 (there is that number 8 again for her). Sandi and Bruno moved to Superior July 2009, (previously lived in Hayward, WI, Duluth, MN and Florida. Although she has lived in other places she notes the love she has for what she found in Superior. Her bestest friends Kelly Raunio and Barb Myher and many more.

Sandi enjoys (not enjoyed) she will still do them, her favorite was making Liam her grandson laugh and laugh so hard he snorted. Teaching him the body of Christ, and father son holy ghost, playing hide and seek with him, and oh yes whatever he wanted he got. And spending as much time with her daughter Arlene whom she loves times the last number ever recorded… keep laughing my daughter so hard that I will still hear you snort… don’t be sad as you know Jesus is seated at the right hand… and I’m on the left asking all my questions… hey it’s as beautiful as Little Bruno and you’re dad said it would be for me…

Although Sandi fought many battles for her son, she fought the battle of breast cancer with all she had. Her positive attitude and her healthy sense of humor was far beyond any other. (unless yup there is always an unless) you pissed her off… as Sandi said “why you want to bring out my evil twin, you are not going to win against her?”
Sandi loved many things and dancing in her underwear like who cares if they see me if I make them laugh then laugh…

My daughter, my grandson… for I am not leaving you I am simply going to be with Big Bruno, and Little Bruno on their journey, so just call my name and I will always be around watching and holding and loving you from above as both have done for all of us… To My Sisters and Brothers, I will if I can sneak you all in the glorious heavens even if through the back side door… but one cannot enter with hate in your hearts…

Sandi is preceded in death by her husband Bruno May 24, 2016 and son Bruno Ronald Vabalaitis May 16, 2008.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM, Friday, February 3, 2017, in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior, and will continue until the 12:30 PM memorial service.

P.S. Sandi request that at her service to celebrate her life please come in your football jersey. Although Sandi really, really, yes really, really, loved the Chicago Bears, one may wear whatever team you choose. So please come in your football jersey, as this is not a sad time, this, my family and friends, is a free time… “I am not longer missing my husband or son, and you all have Arlene and Liam.”

Sandi wanted everyone to know that she wrote her own obituary.
