Sharon “Sherry” Eggers, 78, longtime Superior area resident, passed Saturday, February 1, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN surrounded by her family. She was born in Chicago, IL, February 28, 1941, the daughter of Irene Gehards.
Sherry was united in marriage to Kenneth Eggers, February 10, 1962, and they celebrated twenty-three years of marriage before his passing in 1985.
She worked as a medical transcriptionist at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN before her retirement. Sherry filled her days with hobbies such as knitting, gardening, photography, watching for deer, birds and snowy owls, listening and singing to music, Suduko, and many “brain games.” She was insatiably curious about current events and her kids’ lives. Sherry loved people; her family, her friends current and from her past. She was incredibly quick witted and loved to laugh. She was often described as “feisty”. Sherry had dear friends she swam and lunched with from the Superior YMCA a member of “The Sisterhood of the Faded Swimsuits.”
Sherry is survived by her sons, Kevin (Charlotte) Eggers, Rhinelander, WI, and Keith (Sherry) Eggers, Duluth, MN; daughters, Kelly (Brad) Peterson, and Karen Eggers, both of Superior, WI; grandchildren, Amber (Erik) Kaufer, Superior, WI, Michael Eggers, New Richmond, WI, Luke Eggers, currently stationed in Japan with the US Navy, Hannah Eggers, Bloomington, MN, a member of the Army Natl. Guard, and Jeremiah Johnson, Superior; step grandchildren, Nathaniel Ciebiera, Duluth, MN, Brandon Ciebiera, Duluth, MN, Brady (Amy) Peterson, Inver Grove Heights, MN, Taylor (Megan) Peterson, Superior, WI, Amanda (Andrew) Peterson, Green Bay, WI, and her “Greats” great-grandchildren, Josephine and Jaqueline, Superior, WI, Olivia, Jensen and Yulla Ciebiera, Duluth, MN, and Greta Peterson, Superior, WI. (Sherry was known as “Mamo” by family)
Sharon is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth; parents; sister, Carol Powers and step grandson Zackary Johnson.
Sherry has waited patiently, for 34 years, to be reunited with her Kenny.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM, Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5 th Street, Superior, and will continue until the 6:00 PM funeral service with Pastor Tom Bush officiating.
Burial will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Maple, WI in the Spring.
