Shawn M. Rhodes

Shawn Michael Rhodes, 53, of Gordon, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the University of Minnesota-Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis following a courageous year-long battle with a painful complicated illness. He was born April 11, 1969, to Leon L. and Bonita S. (Anderson) Rhodes in Waukegan, IL.

As a lifelong resident of Douglas County, Shawn grew up in Lake Nebagamon, WI and attended Northwestern High School in Maple, WI. As he enjoyed the great outdoors, Shawn took his first job with the Wisconsin Conservation Corp and enjoyed landscaping and building rock walls with his father. He later worked as a deck hand and porter for the American Steamship Company for several years.

An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, kayaking, camping, and swimming at the Locks. Shawn especially loved taking rides on his Harley and was a talented artist who loved woodworking. Most of all, Shawn was a loving son, brother, father, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving mother, Bonnie Baum; brothers, Clifford L. Rhodes, and Tim Baum; sisters, Stacey Kitzman, Kathy Baum, Misty Baum, Melinda Rhodes Brand, and Roxann Rhodes Kotera.

Shawn is also survived by his children, Dakota Rhodes, Sianna Rhodes, Madison Rhodes, and Willow Rhodes; stepson, Rory Fuller; stepdaughter, Nicole Forrest; granddaughter, Sophia L. Rhodes, and an expectant granddaughter due to arrive in January; along with many aunts, nieces, and nephews; his special friend, Tina Souza, and special friend, Jeffery Gordon, both of whom he considered family, along with many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father; brother, Clifford Bradley Rhodes; grandparents; stepfathers, Les Hildebrandt and Gail Baum; along with his close friends Carl Hartshorn and Lewis Bailey.

A Memorial Service and Reception will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon at a later date, and service date and times will be published.
