Shirley "Sis" Laflamme

March 13, 1933 — April 23, 2011

Shirley “Sis” LaFlamme 78, longtime Superior area resident, died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at St Francis Home in the Park. She was born on March 13, 1933 in Superior to Walter and Gladys (TePoel) LaFlamme.

Sis was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at several area nursing homes and St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was also a private duty nurse in the area. For the past several years, she has been a volunteer in the Foster Grandparent Program. This was a source of great joy to her. She also enjoyed sewing, dancing and cooking. She was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Sis is survived by one son, Robert Missinne; one daughter, Michele Ford; one granddaughter and greatest source of joy, Allison Ford; one brother, Walter James (Theresa) LaFlamme, three nieces, Sheryl Anderson, Annette (Gary) Blaize and Lisa (Mike) Murphy ; one nephew, James LaFlamme and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by and infant daughter, Sheryl Marie Cummings; her father Walter LaFlamme, her mother, Gladys Seacotte; her stepfather, August Seacotte, a niece, Mary Beth Pearson and her very special friend, Jerry Murphy.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 until the 5:00 PM Memorial Service in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci, pastor of Cathedral of Christ the King will officiate. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
