Shirley A. Severson

Shirley A. Severson, 81, longtime Superior resident, died Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center in Superior, WI. She was born in Ashland, WI, June 23, 1938, the daughter of Harold and Elsie (Erickson) Johnson.

Shirley was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Superior, where she did volunteer work, including the church newsletter, and was a member of the Coffee Crew at the Billings Park Bakery. She enjoyed baking cookies with her grandkids and loved camping in Port Wing where she grew up.

She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Ruppe, South Range, WI; son, Scott (Brenda) Severson, Town of Superior, WI; grandchildren, Hunter, Brett, Brook and Brody; sister, Barbara (Gary) Snyder, Foxboro, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Severson Jr.; foster parents, Oscar and Signe Carlson; foster sister, Jean Davidson; and brother, Chester Bierl.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Avenue, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Pastor Victor St. George of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will be in Orienta Town Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Villa Marina for the wonderful care and support they provided Shirley during her stay.
