Shirley A. Sorensen

Shirley A. Sorensen, 92, longtime Superior, Wisconsin area resident passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Superior Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Superior.

She was born in Virginia, Minnesota on June 22, 1925, the daughter of Edward and Leona (Peloquin) Moon.

Shirley graduated from Cathedral High School in 1943.

She married the love of her life, Robert Sorensen on July 12, 1947, and they celebrated fifty-five years of marriage before his passing in 2002.

She was a longtime active member of St. Williams Catholic Church and it’s Altar Society; A Charter member of the Pattison Park Gladiola Garden Club; Four Corners Homemakers Club; Scarlet Ladies Red Hat Society; the Lioness Club; Four Corners Crafters.   Shirley volunteered for St. Francis Pastoral Care, and assisted with the American Cancer sick loan cupboard.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol (Larry) Strack, Apple Valley, MN and Cathi (Marty Hope) Austin, Superior, WI; five sons, Kenneth (Linda) Sorensen, Casa Grande, AZ;  Kim (Lisa) Sorensen, Gordon, WI; Kirk (Kim) Sorensen, Benson, AZ; Kerry (Mary) Sorensen, Barnes, WI;  Kris (Terri) Sorensen, Duluth, MN; 19  grandchildren, John (Holly) Strack, Mark (Heather Shaw) Strack, Jamie (Mark) Sherlock, Joe (Amanda) Austin, Debbie (Bryan) Miller, Amy (Alex) Rodriguez, Greg (Katlyn) Sorensen, Jake (Jessica) Sorensen, Jessica ( Zane) Sorensen, Erik (Shirley) Sorensen, Beth (Joe) Tsutsumishita, Gina (Andy) Mott, Anna (Rose) Anderson, Benjamin (Meaghan) Sorensen, Matthew (Jessica) Sorensen, Thomas (Michelle) Sorensen, Krista (Sean) Cummings; 41 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; great-grandson, Luke Sorensen; two sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM, Friday, December 29 ^th , 2017 at St Williams Catholic Church and continue until the 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Father Adam Laski as celebrant.

Pallbearers for the service will be Kenneth, Kim, Kirk, Kerry and Kris Sorensen and Larry Strack.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Burial will be at St Williams Cemetery.
