Sigrid Gronroos

Sigrid Gronroos, 90, Bennett, WI, died Friday, March 29, 2013 at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on January 24, 1923 in New York Mills, MN to Wayne and Elvira Korhonen.

She married Ernest Gronroos on March 12, 1958 and celebrated fifty-five years of marriage.

Sigrid had been employed at a convenience store when she lived in Naples, FL and she also had been employed at the former C & E Shoes and the former Roth Brothers Dept. Store in Superior.

She enjoyed gardening and canning the things that she grew. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and neighbors.

In addition to her husband Ernest, Sigrid is survived by one son, Rudy Tikkanen, Boaz, AL; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue Brundage, St. Augustine, FL and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, David Tikkanen; two sisters, Sonja Pearson and Sylvia Maki; four brothers, Sven, Sulo, Salfred and Solomon Korhonen and her parents.

A gathering is tentatively scheduled at the Bennett Town Hall.
