Starr E. Tahtinen

Starr E. Tahtinen, 76, longtime resident of Brule, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Dove Health Care in Superior, WI. She was born in Superior on April 6, 1948, the daughter of Percy R. Marin and Eleanor (LaPointe) Helland.

Starr graduated from Superior Senior High School and later attended WITC and UWS. She became a nurse’s aide and worked for St. Mary’s hospital for many years.

She was an amazing cook and loved creating crafts from needle point or crocheting. She also enjoyed getting out to play bingo and taking shopping trips.

Starr will be dearly missed by her daughter Rhonda Schaffer, Superior; grandchildren Christine Tondee, Robert (Krista) Tahtinen, Elizabeth Clemmer, Rhonda Bell, Destiny Stanford, and Mikey Tahtinen; six great-grandchildren; mother Eleanor Helland, Pahrump, NV; sister Maryann McCoy, Pahrump, NV; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Tahtinen Sr., son Ronald Tahtinen Jr., brother Keith Marin, and sister Gail Smith.

Visitation will be held at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior, and will continue until the Memorial Service at 5:30 PM with Gary Banker officiating.
