Stephan Weyandt, 89, longtime resident of Iron River, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Vita Care Living in Hayward, WI. He was born on December 7, 1935, to Maxwell and Vivian (Kemp) Weyandt.
He graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple, WI, with the class of 1954. He also served his country in the United States Army. Stephan later joined the local Iron Workers Union #512 and worked for Lakehead Construction for many years.
Stephan was united in marriage to Virginia Darwin on August 5, 1961. Together they raised two sons and celebrated fifty-eight wonderful years together before her passing on Christmas day in 2019.
He was longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Iron River.
In his younger years, Stephan was very active in sports, playing both baseball and basketball. He even played in Europe during his time in the Army. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting deer and fishing. In his later years, he enjoyed going golfing and bowling when he could.
He is survived by his sons Scott (Kadi) Weyandt, Iron River, WI and Greg (Laura) Weyandt, Chetek, WI; grandchildren Logan Weyandt, Justin (Autumn) Weyandt, Riley (Sabrina) Weyandt, Brady Weyandt, Trisha (Bob) Evans, Jessica (Aaron Nelson) Weyandt, Nicole Weyandt, and Andres Weyandt; great-grandchildren Jasper, Juniper, Declan, Helena, and Jackson; sisters Sue (Bruce) Martin, Nancy Swenson, and Linda; and several nieces and nephews.
Stephan is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virgina; grandson Max; brother Earl Weyandt; and sister Lorraine Weyandt.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Vita Care Living, for the wonderful care they provided Stephan.
A Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at St. Micheal Catholic Church, 68105 S. George Street in Iron River, and will continue until the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM, with Father Joji officiating.
Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery at a later date.
