Stephen Joseph Glonchak, 78, Lake Nebagamon, WI, died on Monday, January 29, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 17, 1945, in Superior, WI to Joseph and Frances (Kuchmek) Glonchak.
He graduated from Superior Cathedral High School in 1964. On October 7, 1967, Stephen married the love of his life, Patricia Frisk, in Superior, WI, and celebrated 56 years of marriage together.
Stephen was a machinist at Fraser Shipyards for many years until 1980. He continued his career as a machinist for Superior Hydraulics until 2001. Always a hardworking man, Stephen could never sit still for long. You could always find him in his garage, where he would spend hours working. He could take an idea, design it, and make his projects come to life, including his elevator, and the raised-bed garden, which was completely planted from seed, making it the envy of everyone who saw it. Stephen was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing and he never turned down an offer to play a game of cribbage.
Family was most important to him, so he started the annual Glonchak Estates Fourth of July Celebration, bringing our extended family together. It continues to be a family tradition. Seeing and spending time with his grandchildren made life complete. Stephen will be greatly missed.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Patricia Glonchak, Lake Nebagamon; son, Steve (Kelli) Glonchak, Superior; daughters: Cheryl (James) Pfister, Oconomowoc, Susan (Thomas) Johnson, South Range, Amy (Orv) Botten, Lake Nebagamon; sister, Monica Glonchak, Superior; his loving grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by infant daughter Ann Marie; his parents; brothers: Andrew (Lorraine) Glonchak, John Glonchak, Frank (Yvonne) Glonchak, and Peter Glonchak; sisters: Ann (Theodore) Cogswell and Josephine (Kenneth) Voss.
