Stephen "Steve" R. Bick

Stephen R. “Steve” Bick, 63, Superior resident, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth with his family by his side. He was born on June 15, 1951 in Galesburg, IL to Richard and Lois (Lynch) Bick.

Steve attended Costa High School in Galesburg, IL graduating in 1969. He graduated in 1973 from Beloit College in Beloit, WI with a B.S. degree in economics and in 1977 graduated with J.D. degree from Marquette University Law School, Milwaukee, WI.

Steve moved to Superior in 1977 to begin his legal career and was an attorney with Maki, Ledin, Bick and Olson for the past twenty-three years. He was a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Douglas County Bar Association, and was a Director at the National Bank of Commerce. Steve was active in many civic and non-profit groups in the community, was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and an adult leader with Boy Scout Troop 213.

Steve married Mary Manion on August 18, 1979 in Faith United Methodist Church in Superior and they recently celebrated thirty-five years of marriage.

Steve loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, golfing and tennis. He loved spending time at his cabin on the Gunflint Trail and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.

Steve will especially be remembered for his wit, strength of character, spirit of adventure and kind heart.

Steve is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Kathryn (Chris) Molitor, Savage, MN and son, Ryan Bick, Superior, WI; granddaughter and light of his life, Margaret “Meg” Eva Molitor; his father, Dr. Richard Bick; siblings, Diane Bick, Martha (Dale) Markley, Larry (Ann) Bick, Dan (Mary Patterson) Bick; his mother-in-law, Louise Manion; his wife’s siblings, Patty Huhta (Tom) Bartholomew and Bonnie (Chip) Leland, many nieces and nephews and his beloved canine companion, Duke.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Bick and father-in-law, Gayle Manion.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2014 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior.

Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 22, 2014 and continue until the 11:00 AM memorial service with Pastor Joel Certa-Werner officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Steve’s name to Faith United Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 213 or a charity of the donors choice.
