Steven W. Bergsten

Steven W. Bergsten, 72, lifelong Poplar resident, died peacefully Sunday, August 22, 2021, at his home in Poplar, WI. He was born in Superior, WI, July 9, 1949, the son of Walde and Gertrude (Lundberg) Bergsten.

He was united in marriage to Bonnie Erickson, July 15, 1972, and they recently celebrated forty-nine years of marriage before his passing.

Steve was a dairy farmer and owned and operated the family farm in Poplar for many years. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed working with honeybees, and will lovingly be remembered as “The Wreath Man”. He loved gardening, primarily vegetables, and always remember to “Bring Your Strawberry Pail”. He also loved to travel near and far for the best cheese available so he could share it with his family and friends.

Steve especially enjoyed his favorite place, Waskos with Chris, and the whole crew. He was a family man, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and will be missed by all!

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Bergsten, Poplar, WI; five children, Stephanie (Keith) Pearson, Hawthorne, WI, Enoch (Meri Karppanen) Bergsten, Helsinki, Finland, Luke Bergsten, Poplar, WI, Kathryn Bergsten, Poplar, WI, and Daphnie (Andy Dahl) Bergsten, Sturgeon Lake, MN; grandchildren, Jonathon, Sonny, Freya, Erik, Layla, and Piper; great-grandchildren, Derrick and Talon; and brothers, Charles (Janice) Bergsten, Dan (Dorothy) Bergsten, and Bruce (Donna) Bergsten; and sister-in-law, Dianna Bergsten.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Wood; and brother, Robert “Bob” Bergsten.

A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 2:00-4:00 PM at our home, 10723 E. Bayfield Rd., Poplar, WI.
