Steven Frederick Johnson, age 60, of Foxboro, WI, died surrounded by family on July 15. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marilyn (Clemens) Johnson; his sons, Keith (Amy), San Diego, CA; Scott (Kristie), Duluth, MN; and his 4 grandchildren, Elise, Norah, Neil, and Violet. He is also survived by his older brother, Joel (Lana), Hayward, WI and many cousins and relations.

Steve was born the second of three sons, to Allan and Mary Jane Johnson in 1956. He was raised in Cloverland, WI, and graduated from Northwestern High School in 1974. After high school he attended college at the University of Wisconsin Superior. His mother was a teacher, and he instilled the importance of education in his sons. He grew up surrounded by a large extended family that remains in touch with frequent reunions. Steve was proud of his Finnish heritage. He was raised in the country and enjoyed being active in the outdoors. He also enjoyed reading, watching professional and college sports, listening to music, and sharing his hobbies with his sons. Steve traveled to California frequently to visit his son’s family. He resided with his wife in Foxboro, WI, and enjoyed being retired.

He retired from the US Postal Service after being a letter carrier for 30 years. He was a strong labor supporter, and was active in his union branch. Steve had strong convictions and believed in the importance of social progress, hard work, and honesty. He was extremely proud of his family, especially his sons. Steve had a kind heart and would spend hours outside playing with his grandchildren.

Steve and Marilyn celebrated 40 years of marriage last December. He shared everything with his wife, and described her as his best friend.
