Susan Markee

February 22, 1953 — August 2, 2012

Susan Markee, 59, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died in her residence on Thursday, August 2, 2012 surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Susan was born on February 22, 1953 in Faribault, MN to Walter and Maureen (Biesemeier) Nelson Jr.

She married Thomas Markee on October 9, 1971 in Mellen, WI and celebrated forty years of marriage.

Susan was employed as a Special Education Para Professional at Cooper School in the Superior School District and recently retired after many years of service.

She was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Susan is survived by her husband, Thomas; children, Christine (Donald) Polkinghore, Diana (Michael) Markee-O'Brien and Scott (Jill) Markee, all of Superior; grandchildren, Kathryn, Dane and Matthew; sister, Jeanine (Tim) Carbon, Highbridge, WI; nephew, Ian (Nicole) Carbon, Ashland, WI; father-in-law, Kenneth Markee, Mellen, WI, brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Ardell) Markee, Colstrip, MT, James Markee, Mellen, WI and Mark (Lori) Markee, Mosinee, WI; and nephews and nieces, Kenneth, Adrian, Shannon and Marcus.

Susan was a beautiful, thoughtful person who always put others before herself. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Monday, August 6, 2012 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior with a scripture service to be held at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.
