Sybil V. Nelson

Sybil V. Nelson, 91, longtime Superior area resident, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at her residence.

She was born in Remer, Minnesota on September 28, 1919, the daughter of Fredrick and Thelma (Grieve) Harris.

Sybil moved to Superior in 1937 following completion of High School.

She worked as a Beautician and also worked for many years as a cook at Southdale Nursing Home in Superior.

Sybil married Arvid Nelson on March 27, 1942 and had celebrated forty-two years of marriage before his passing in 1985.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and especially her grandchildren.

Sybil was preceded in death by her husband, Arvid; her parents, Fredrick and Thelma Harris; and two brothers, George Harris Sr., and LaVerne Harris.

She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Nelson, Superior, WI and Paula (Edgar) Kock, Park Falls, WI; one son, Richard (Sherri) Nelson, Superior, WI; four grandchildren, Ashley Kock, St. Cloud, MN; Nicole Kock, Superior, WI; Courtney Wrazidlo, Superior, WI; Callista Nelson, Superior, WI; one brother, John (Karen) Harris, Mount Shasta, CA; two sisters, JoAnn Alto, Solon Springs, WI and Donna Lucas, Solon Springs, WI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5th Street, Superior and continue until the 11:00AM, Funeral Service with Pastor Sarah Kerkes of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Superior.

Pallbearers for the service will be Tracy Bee, Edgar Kock, Clarence Couture, Rodney DeVogel, Bart Frandsen and Mike Miller
