Terry Russell Martin

Terry Russell Martin , 75, passed away peacefully at home in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. He was born in Superior on July 5, 1948, the son of Russell and Laurel (Lien) Martin.

Terry graduated from Superior Senior High School, class of 1966 and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. He received a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Terry was united in marriage to Susan Grimstad on March 27, 1971 and they celebrated 53 years of marriage before his passing.

He worked for several local construction companies over the years as a carpenter and was a member of Carpenters Local #361.

In his free time, Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and summer cabin trips with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Martin, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; daughters: Angela Martin-Gross (Doug Gross), Apple Valley, MN and Kelly Gentry (Bryce), Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; grandchildren: Alex, Tyler and Ava Gross, Braydon and Brooklyn Kurtz and Owen Gentry; siblings: Janice King, Superior, WI and Randy Martin (Debbie), South Range, WI; longtime friend, Ron Anderson, South Range, WI; and his dog Rusty.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, Friday, February 21, 2025 at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue in Superior. Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Downs-LeSage Funeral Home until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Gary Banker officiating.

Burial will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI at a later date.
