Thomas K. Carlson, 77, longtime area resident, died Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at his home in South Range, WI. He was born in Chicago, IL, November 24, 1942, the son of Kenneth and Elayne (Byer) Carlson.
He graduated from the former Central High School in Superior.
Tom served his country honorably in the United States Navy during Vietnam aboard the USS Yorktown.
He was united in marriage to Jo Ann Carlson in Zephyr Cove, NV, September 3, 1966, and they celebrated fifty-three years of marriage before her recent passing.
He worked as an inspector for McDonnell Douglas for thirty-six years before his retirement. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and wildlife enthusiast. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
He is survived by his mother, Elayne Schnell; grandchildren, Chris Schnee, Tad (Estrella) Moeller, Jennifer (Parke) Whitney, Autumn (Clint) Carlson, Tommy and Foster Carlson; great-grandchildren, Michael, Deron, Thomas, Eva, Thor, Tyler, Aubree, Rilee, Conner, Cooper, Angelia, Faith, Gracie, and Layla; sister, Kathy (David) Hanson; brother, Brad (Terriann) Carlson; sister-in-law, Ulla Gustafsson-Carlson; step-sisters, Sallie (Jim) Gotelaere, and Terri (Doug Roberts) McGrath; step-brother, Kevin (Janet) McGrath; uncle, William (Kathy) Byer; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, JoAnn Carlson; father, Kenneth Carlson; step-mother, Maryhelen Carlson; brother, Rick Carlson; maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
