Thomas Darst, 55, Superior, died unexpectedly Monday, March 25, 2013.
He was born on October 28, 1957 in Superior to Lowell and Astrid (Erickson) Darst.
He graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1976 and attended University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Tom was employed with Superior Water Light and Power for thirty-three years before his retirement in January 2012.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Tom had a lifelong love of music. He was a talented pianist and drummer having played drums in several bands. A highlight of his music career was his time in the band Crossroad and the production of a CD.
He took great pride in his two daughters and his grandchildren. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Tom is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Judd) Medak, Duluth, Ericka Darst, Superior; two grandchildren, Greyson and Evelin Medak; two sisters, Kathleen (John) Berchild, Superior, Susan (Alan) Horvath, Superior; his sister-in-law, Joyce Darst, Superior; his former wife and mother of his daughters, Susan Strong, Superior and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Darst; his mother, Astrid Erickson Darst Amundson; one brother, James Darst; stepfather, Frayden “Bill” Amundson and his grandparents, Ernest and Ann Darst and Aaron and Dagmar Erickson.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Friday, March 29, 2013 and will continue at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 30, 2013 until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci, of Cathedral of Christ the King, officiating.
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in Tom’s name.
