Thomas J. Honkanen, 77, lifelong area resident died unexpectedly on Friday, March 11, 2022, at his home in South Range, WI following a brief illness. He was born in Superior June 29, 1944, the son of Eino “Red” and Ruth (Hagen) Honkanen.
Tom was a graduate of the former East High School in Superior.
Tom owned and operated Wisconsin Recreational Crankshaft Repair for many years. Prior to that, he was with Bombardier Corporation and JI Case. If it was mechanical, he could work on it. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends, telling stories and creating smiles! He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Kimberly Hemphill, Superior, WI, Cory (Kim) Honkanen, Oakland, WI, and Kamie (Dennis) Androsky, Solon Springs, WI; and his Other Half, Brenda Bracklin; six grandchildren, Christopher Hemphill, Patrick Honkanen, and Joseph, Thomas and Allison Androsky, Leevi Honkanen; great-granddaughter, Jade; brother, John (Judy) Honkanen, Britt, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean
Odlevak and Joyce Haws; his late wife and mother of his children, Dorothy “Dotsie” Honkanen.
He made it very clear that he wanted no funeral, he wanted a party. So there will be one last party at Tom’s at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 5049 E. County Rd. B, South Range, WI.
