Thomas Huray, Jr.

Thomas Huray, Jr., 86, lifelong Superior area resident, died Friday, November 19, 2010 at St. Francis in the Park, Superior.
He was born on August 5, 1924 in Superior, the son of Thomas and Kristina (Chovac) Huray, Sr.

Thomas served his country during World War II in the United States Army and achieved marksman status.

He was employed as a truck driver for the Douglas County Highway Department for many years retiring in 1986. He previously worked as a logger, worked at the grain elevators, coal dock and at B & B Railroad.

He enjoyed watching football and baseball and was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Twins. He had been an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.

Thomas is survived by three sons, Patrick Huray, Superior, WI, Dan (Casey) Huray, Solon Springs, WI and Mike (Melissa) Huray, Duluth, MN; one daughter, Linda Huray, Superior, WI; daughter-in-law, Carol Huray, Bennett, WI; three step-daughters, Patricia Winter, Superior, WI, Marian (George) Klein, of Arkansas and Margaret (Harry) Rasmussen, Superior, WI; sixteen grandchildren, Hailey Woolverton, Macy Huray, Emilyn Huray, Naomi (Dennis) Berthiaume, Dawn Huray, Heather (Amenti Wege) Huray, Brittany (Kenneth) Smith, Jane (Jeff) Nynas, Sarah Huray,
Jamie Winter, Adam Pearson-Klein, Chris (Terra) Stenberg, Lyndsay (Jim) Daniel, Tonie (Brad) Corbin, Trisha Smedegard-Stenberg, and Kelly Zebro, and eighteen great-grandchildren, Mathew Huray, Jasmine Vignere, James Huray, Mycthanial Wege-Huray, Jaydelyn Anderson, Jillynn Nynas, Nautolie Wege-Huray, Vaelena Smith, Hunddee Wege-Huray, Jacob Pearson-Klein, Mason Stenberg, Maggie Stenberg, Emilee Daniel, Abigayle Daniel, Alisha Moran, Aimee Lynn Moran, Cole Stenberg, and Kyle Zebro.

He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Helen in 1981, second wife, Cora in 2001, son James in 2007 and daughter Lori in 1968.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, Monday, November 22, 2010 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior with a scripture service to be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM, Tuesday in Holy Assumption Catholic Church until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson as celebrant.
