Thomas W. Kilgore

June 21, 1943 — November 7, 2023

Thomas Wesley Kilgore, 80, lifelong Superior resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.

He was born in Superior on June 21, 1943, the son of George and Adeline (Piggott) Kilgore. He graduated from Central High School in 1961. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1962 and served 20 years, retiring in 1982 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. During his time in the Navy, he traveled the world and was stationed in Japan, Turkey, Guam, the Philippines and Hawaii, just to name a few. In 1970, he married Donna Jean Senn, and they celebrated 53 years of marriage together.

Tom was also employed by the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, APWU and American Legion. He was a hard worker with an incredible work ethic, only retiring from his last job at age 66 due to health issues. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer and bowler and loved to talk about his first job at the age of 15 manually setting bowling pins at the local bowling alley. In most recent years, he loved working crossword puzzles, visits to the casino with Donna, and having breakfast or lunch with family and friends at Julie’s Restaurant. He was also a lifelong Packers fan and would enjoy watching the games. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with his grandkids. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters Yvonne Arcilla Kilgore, Springfield, LA, Stacy Seboe (Jason), Cloquet, MN; son Wesley Kilgore (Lindsey), Superior; grandchildren Alexander Pendleton, Jake Seboe (Alexandra Trudeau), Zachary Pendleton, Paris Kilgore, Maddox Kilgore, Ella Seboe and Ruby Kilgore; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law Roger Senn (Cecilia), Grand Rapids, MI, Timothy Senn (Nancy), Superior, and Terry Senn (Jessica), Motley, MN; and sisters-in-law Cheryl Senn, Joan Senn and Kathryn Senn, all of Superior.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Adeline Kilgore; brother James Kilgore; sister Sharon Nault; in-laws Donald and Arlene Senn; brothers-in-law Donald Senn, Jr. and Richard Senn; and son-in-law Michael Turner.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Luke’s 7W, Cardiac Unit and ICU during his last days and moments for their exceptional care. They would also like to thank Dr. Addie Vittorio, Dr. Jennifer Mueller, and Dr. Homam Alkaied for their compassionate care of Tom over the last several years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the DAV or American Cancer Society.
