Thomas Matthew “Tom” Riedel, age 50, of Superior, WI, passed away on August 3, 2025, at Essentia Health in Superior, surrounded by family.
Tom was born on June 3, 1975, in Eau Claire, WI, to Thomas P. and Suzanne (Lusson) Riedel. He grew up in Eau Claire, graduating from Memorial High School with the Class of 1993, and later lived in Minnesota and Arizona before returning to Wisconsin.
Tom built a meaningful career in healthcare, working in long-term and assisted living communities. He specialized in helping families transition loved ones into care and served as Director for several facilities. His compassion, humor, and professionalism left a lasting impression on the many residents, families, and colleagues whose lives he touched.
Outside of work, Tom enjoyed music and karaoke, sports cars, and nostalgic 1980s television. A lifelong advocate for animals—especially dogs—Tom had a unique gift for connecting with them, and every dog seemed to gravitate toward him. He was also a devoted friend, maintaining many deep and lasting friendships from high school and from the communities where he lived.
Tom is survived by his parents, Thomas P. and Suzanne Riedel of Superior, WI; his sister, Ann Riedel of Eau Claire, WI; his brother, Paul (Alisha) Riedel of Superior, WI; and his beloved nephew and niece, Jonah and Kylie Riedel. He is also survived by many dear, lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Margaret (LaBrec) Riedel, and his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Mary (Rousar) Lusson.
The family extends heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support during Tom’s battle with cancer and to the compassionate staff at Essentia Health. Tom will be remembered as an eternal optimist, a loyal friend, and a man whose kindness and warmth enriched the lives of all who knew him.
