Thomas H. "Tom" Sanders

Thomas H. “Tom” Sanders, 77, Foxboro, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, August 10, 2015 after a long battle with a respiratory illness.

Tom was born on September 23, 1937 in Superior to Fritz and Mable (Thorsell) Sanders.

He served his country in the United States Army.

Tom married Patricia Mattson on May 21, 1975 in Norfolk, VA and recently celebrated 40 years of marriage.

He was employed as a conductor with the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroads. He retired in 1999 with over 30 years of service.

He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading and hunting but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family.

Tom was a jokester and always had a laugh to share. He was an avid Twins and Minnesota Vikings fan.

In addition to his wife Patricia, Tom is survived by his children, Jon (Jessica) Sanders, Scott (Erin) Sanders, Penny (Joseph) Smith; his grandchildren, Paige, Hunter, Logan, Cody and Manny and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Joyce Sapko and Patricia Mikloczack, a niece, Karna Higgins and a nephew, Joseph Sapko.

Per Tom’s request, no funeral will be held but rather a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Upper Deck Restaurant, 1415 No. 26th St., Superior.
