Thomas O. "Tom" Sandmon

Thomas O.”Tom” Sandmon, 76, longtime Lake Nebagamon, WI, resident died November 26, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Solon Springs, WI on August 25, 1939, the son of George and Eithel (Yadon) Sandmon.

Tom was employed as a groundskeeper on the Brule River.

In 1972 Tom found his high school sweetheart Karen Hanson, married her in Superior on June 17, 1983 and had recently celebrated thirty-two years of marriage.

He was a Guide on the Brule River. He was also a member of the Highland Volunteer Fire Department; B.A.H.A.; and Volunteered for the Barnes area VFW.

Tom passed his love for the outdoors to his family through Deer hunting, fishing, camping; feeding his deer and painting scenery on saw blades. He was also
designated as the Lyman Lake Snow shoe king in years past and was also a charter organizer of the “Tom and Jack’s Fishing contests”.

Tom enjoyed being around family and friends and showed his love by making or painting something for them.

It was said by grandchildren that grandpa could make or fix anything.

Tom will be dearly missed by many.

Tom is survived by his wife Karen, Highland; four daughters,Lisa (Nick) Schouviller, Brooklynn Park, MN; Renee (Odie) Hudacek, Maple, WI; Rae Ann (Michael) Smith, Amnicon, Wl; and Georgiann Sandmon, Michigan; two sons, Thomas Sandmon, Jr, Bayfield, WI and Shayne (Cheri) Sandmon, Lake Nebagamon, WI; thirteen Grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Janice Johnson, Lake Nebagamon, WI; Laura Borgh, Superior, WI; Judy (Stewart) Hunter, Hawthorne, WI; Bonnie ( Boone) Gordon, Solon Springs, WI and Barb Wickstrom, Solon Springs, WI; one brother, Rodney (Gwen) Sandmon, Siren, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eithel Sandmon; one sister, Lauretta Moran.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon and will continue until the 12:00 Noon Memorial Service Pastor Darrell Kyle, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded by the Barnes area VFW post 8329 at the Church.
